Examples of eligible and ineligible expenses
The HRTC can be claimed for most renovations or alterations to your home or property that are permanent in nature. As a rule of thumb, if the item you purchase will not become a permanent part of your home or property, it is not eligible. There are items, however, that have been explicitly excluded. If planning on doing it yourself, or if you already have a design plan, Spruce It Up can assist you with advice and everything from the ground up to complete your dream landscape.

Plants
Our greenhouse is stocked year round with a fine selection of tropical plants, Our tree, perennial and shrub lots have your all time favorite species as well as new and unique varieties that are grown specifically for the Calgary climate. Mature caliper trees are one of our specialties. Please ask our staff about our delivery and installation service. And yes we do sell sod.
Plant Requirements
At Spruce It Up we carry a multitude of products to keep you plants healthy. We offer a variety of soil, soil amendments and fertilizers to feed your plants and we also carry biologic, chemical and organic pest and disease controls. Ask one of our experts at our information centre to assist you.
Hardscape Material
Hardscape is an element of design that allows for balance, texture and ambiance. Our reasonably priced collection of concrete blocks, rocks, statuary, bird baths, bird feeders, sun dials, containers, furniture, fire bowls, obelisks, trellises, stepping stones and water features will add individual flare to any garden.
Garden Implements
Just getting started or maintaining your yard, garden implements are a must. Whether you need gardening gloves, pruning sheers, watering devices, hand tools, long handled tools, sprayers, etc., come and visit our large tool wall to select what will work best for you.
Bulk Products
At Spruce It Up we give you the option to purchase products such as mulch and top soil by the bag or in bulk. If you prefer home delivery, please ask our staff for more information. At any time of the year, Spruce It Up also carries well cured fire wood in bulk.
Giftware
No matter what the season, Spruce It Up has giftware to suit every indoor and outdoor need. Find that unique garden accent, distinctive birdhouse, table center piece, or special gift. We have a fine selection of tableware products, home decor, plaques/pictures, body products, candles, home harvest, Christmas decorations, and so much more.
